Tsunami's Threat

Today, We've just heard about Tsunami that have destroyed Japan,
Unfortunately, our area ( North Sulawesi especially my regency Southeast Minahasa) also very worried with the Tsunami's Threat,

Why ?? Because our North Sulawesi also included in Tsunami's Threat Zone.

Tsunami threat

What an unfortunately News,,  in next few days North Sulawesi will held a great meeting between other Nations to discuss about Disaster Relief ( ARF-DIREX) and the way to handle it.
But now, North Sulawesi must facing the 'Trouble' ( disaster) More quick than the expectation.
Whereas, Japan included in Nations Group that will come in North Sulawesi ( Manado) to join this Conference ( ARF-DIREX). Based on Information that i've received, Japan also will bring Their Military Vehicles (as a Military Aeroplane,Military Ship, etc)

What a very bad news...

Based on News in TV, Tsunami will happen at 20:00 WIT ( in East Indonesian Time ) or in English at 8.00 pm, and according to BMG's Info, there's 20 Nation included Indonesia, especially East Indonesian Region that will be subject from this Tsunami's Threat.

In Indonesia, Tsunami's Threat Zone area located in North Maluku ( Malut), Papua and North Sulawesi (Sulut).

I hope this Disaster wouldn't make our North Sulawesi especially Southeast Minahasa and Bunaken collaps as the condition in Japan now, in condition that just few days remain to North Sulawesi to held ARF-DIREX.
Hopefully, visitor's interest in North Sulawesi Tourism won't be decrease by this disaster.

So now, we just can to pray for Japan and for Indonesia, especially North Sulawesi in order to held this great meeting.

May God keep save us from this Tsunami's Threat.

Technorati

For this moment I would like to share about Technorati.
I've just register North Sulawesi Tourism in there.

technoratti - north sulawesi tourism

Before we continue, i just want to ask, do you know about Technorati ?
If you don't i will give a lil explanation about it.

Here the explanation about it :
Technorati is an Internet search engine for searching blogs. By June 2008, Technorati was indexing 112.8 million blogs and over 250 million pieces of tagged social media. The name Technorati is a blend of the words technology and literati, which invokes the notion of technological intelligence or intellectualism.
Technorati was founded by Dave Sifry and its headquarters are in San Francisco, California, USA. Tantek Çelik was the site's Chief Technologist.
Technorati uses and contributes to open source software. Technorati has an active software developer community, many of them from open-source culture. Sifry is a major open-source advocate, and was a founder of LinuxCare and later of Wi-Fi access point software developer Sputnik. Technorati includes a public developers' wiki, where developers and contributors collaborate, also various open APIs.
The site won the SXSW 2006 awards for Best Technical Achievement and also Best of Show. It was also nominated for a 2006 Webby Award for Best Practices, but lost to Flickr and Google Maps. In 2010, Technorati was recognized as one of the “2010 Hottest San Francisco Companies
and now i've just receive their notif :
Technorati will need to verify that you are an author of the blog by looking for a unique code. Please put the following short code FGGW96ZQ87T4 within a new blog post and publish it. Once it is published, use the "Verify Claim Token" button to tell Technorati your blog is ready for verification.
Code :
(FGGW96ZQ87T4)

Hope with this claim, this blog will be more popular than before, so the contents of this blog as several info about tourism, hotels, travels, beautiful places, etc, would be easy to access in search engine and easy to find info that you want. May the contents would be very useful for you.

I hope " North Sulawesi Tourism " can reach my purpose to Introduce About North Sulawesi's Potential In Tourism Sector  (as Bunaken) to other peoples,.

Bunaken

Bunaken is an island of 8 km², part of the Bunaken National Marine Park. Bunaken is located at the northern tip of the island of Sulawesi, Indonesia. It belongs administratively to the municipality of Manado. Scuba diving attracts many visitors to the island.

Other sides of Bunaken.

Bunaken National Park extends over an area of 890.65 km² of which only 3% is terrestrial, including Bunaken Island, as well as the islands of Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain and Siladen.

The waters of Bunaken National Marine Park are up to 1,566 m deep in Manado Bay, with temperatures ranging between 27 to 29 °C. It has a high diversity of - corals, fish, echinoderms or sponges. Notably, 7 of the 8 species of giant clams that occur in the world, occur in Bunaken. It also claims to have seven times more genera of coral than Hawaii, and has more than 70% of all the known fish species of the Indo-Western Pacific.

Oceanic currents may explain, in part, why Bunaken National Marine Park has such a high level of biodiversity. Northeasternly currents generally sweep through the park but abundant counter currents and gyros related to lunar cycles are believed to be a trap for free swimming larvae. This is particularly true on the south side of the crescent-shaped Bunaken Island, lying in the heart of the park. A snorkeler or diver in the vicinity of Lekuan or Fukui may spot over 33 species of butterfly fish and numerous types of groupers, damsels, wrasses and gobies. The gobies, smallish fish with bulging eyes and modified fins that allow them to attach to hard surfaces, are the most diverse but least known group of fish in the park.

Based on Geology, North Sulawesi is considered to be a 'young' formation, of 5-24 million years of age. The region has undergone explosive volcanism 1.5-5 million years ago, which resulted in the volcanic tuff that characterizes the existing topography. Manado Tua is an inactive volcano formed in a classical cone shape and rising over 600 m above sea level, the highest elevation in the park. Bunaken Island also has volcanic origins with a significant amount of uplifted fossil coral. Nain Island is also a dome-shaped island, 139m in height. Mantehage Island is relatively flat and seems to be sinking into the sea. The island has extensive mangrove forest flats, partially separated by saltwater channels. Siladen is a low-lying coral sand island with no significant topography. Arakan-Wawontulap and Molas-Wori on the mainland of North Sulawesi are relatively flat areas at the base of volcanic hills. The absence of a continental shelf allows the coastal area of the park to drop directly down the continental slope. The sea depth between the islands of the park is 200 to 1,840 metres.

Bunaken National Park
The Bunaken National Marine Park was formally established in 1991 and is among the first of Indonesia's growing system of marine parks. The park covers a total surface area of 89,065 hectares, 97% of which is overlain by sparkling clear, warm tropical water. The remaining 3% of the park is terrestrial, including the five islands of Bunaken, Manado Tua, Mantehage, Nain and Siladen. Although each of these islands has a special character, it is the aquatic ecosystem that attracts most naturalists.

The waters of Bunaken National Marine Park are extremely deep (1566 m in Manado Bay), clear (up to 35-40 m visibility), refreshing in temperature (27-29 C) and harbor some of the highest levels of biodiversity in the world. Pick any of group of interest - corals, fish, echinoderms or sponges - and the number of families, genera or species is bound to be astonishingly high. For example, 7 of the 8 species of giant clams that occur in the world, occur in Bunaken. The park has around 70 genera of corals; compare this to a mere 10 in Hawaii. Although the exact number of fish species is unknown, it may be slightly higher than in the Philippines, where 2,500 species, or nearly 70% of all fish species known to the Indo-western Pacific, are found.

Oceanic currents may explain, in part, why Bunaken National Marine Park is such a treasure trove of biodiversity. Northeasternly currents generally sweep through the park but abundant counter currents and gyros related to lunar cycles are believed to be a trap for free swimming larvae. This is particularly true on the south side of the crescent-shaped Bunaken Island, lying in the heart of the park. A snorkler or diver in the vicinity of Lekuan or Fukui may spot over 33 species of butterfly fish and numerous types of groupers, damsels, wrasses and gobies. The gobies, smallish fish with bulging eyes and modified fins that allow them to attach to hard surfaces, are the most diverse but least known group of fish in the park.

Biologists believe that the abundance of hard corals is crucial in maintaining the high levels of diversity in the park. Hard corals are the architects of the reefs, without them, numerous marine organisms would be homeless and hungry. Many species of fish are closely associated with particular types of corals (folious, branching, massives, etc.) for shelter and egg-laying. Others, like the enormous Bumphead Parrotfish, Balbometopon muricatum, are "coralivores" and depend on hard corals for their sustenance. Bony mouth parts fused into an impressive "beak" allow these gregarious fish to crunch corals like roasted peanuts.

Some 20,000 people live on the natural resources of Bunaken National Marine Park. Although there are inevitable conflicts between resource protection and use by people, the Indonesian government is taking a fairly unusual and pragmatic approach to park management. The idea is to promote wise resource use while preventing overexploitation. Local communities, government officials, dive resort operators, local nature groups, tourists and scientists have played an active role in developing exclusive zones for diving, wood collection, fishing and other forms of utilization. Bunaken Marine Park has become an important example of how Sulawesi, and the rest of Indonesia, can work to protect its natural resources.
